c0p @ paradise day 17th may 2003

spring, sunshine and laid back tracks in the botanic garden. massses came to rest in the name of photosynthesis to the grass and local djs were playing for them two days long. paradise days was one of my most loved annual mini-festivals until remeteret was launched in 2004 by one half of it's organisers. every year i was trying to showcase past year's minimal techno/electronica vinyl findings that fit to the sparkling spring in the nature.

a leak from my record vaults to celebrate remeteret's 10th anniversary today. in fact, the anniversary was last year, but the event series was banned by the city council (thanks to all politicians!).

nightclubber sideways 012 - laurine frost

old time music maniac friend, laurine frost (salto, thema, archipel, etc) made a delicate mixture of many elements taken from tracks, into a constant flow of soundscapes and pulsation. this is how a talented producer sounds when he slices up his favourite tracks, glues together in ableton and gives a birth of something completely new. this podcast for the romanian nightclubber podcast is highly recommended for everyone into repetitive minimalism and likes shackleton or bruno ponsato.

monolake live @ ego dusseldorf 5 june 1999

monolake's timeless tunes had been rearranged in this 15 years old live recording that robert henke found accidentally today. a lovely flood of mesmerising atmosphere, lush repetition and subtle sounds yet again from the ableton mastermind. just awesome.

"This is a live recording, captured at Ego club in Düsseldorf, June 5 1999. The music has been created with a self written step sequencer, the PX-18, controlling a basic sample player and effects engine, all done in MaxMSP, running on a Powerbook G3. The step sequencer had some unique features, e.g. the ability to switch patterns independently in each track, which later became an important part of a certain music software. I found the recording on a backup disk today. It has not been edited or mastered. During the first 20 minutes of the set, and before the 'encore' the Monolake CD 'Gobi' is playing in the background."

blm fabric promo mix (april 2013)

in order to promote his fabric club night, ben micklewright, the fear of flying records' head honcho brings those lovely subtle chords, spacey bass and crackling sounds of dubtechno. the mass production of the genre lately is about copying the elements without the real less is more aesthetics and missing the true purpose. well, blm's far above the average set will tell you true stories about minimalism and returns you to the source. click to read the fabric interview.

mindset podcast 006 - troy gunner

the sixth podcast of manchester's mindset records was brought by the bristolian mindsetter. just like the previous parts supplied by the head honchos synkro and indigo, the 6th edition is trying to break the boundaries between genres like minimal, ambient electronica and bass music. a continuous flow of string heavy journey in bass with lots of ambient drop outs. pure quality as always!

pole @ boiler room jan 2013

pole, who is named after waldorf's d-pole filter is one of my musical heroes. stefan's first three albums (blue, red and yellow) are cornerstones in my collection. one solid figure of basic channel camp's berlin dub movement. his puncturing minimal sound of dub vibration and echoing glitches are legendary, just like his mighty scape label. he dropped a wicked live set at ctm festival which was aired by boiler room. essential!

ee038 - minimal and abstract electronica (2008)

rob booth uploaded an early set of electronic explorations from 2008, packed with superb electronica and quality minimal bits that are close to my heart too. murcof, tim hecker, fennesz, basinski, etc. are mixed into one floating episode for the home listening posse. don't miss it.

deepchord live @ elevate festival 20-26 oct 2011

deepchord (formerly rod model and mike schommer) should be familiar on this blog as i think they are one of the successors of the original berlin dub movement. the berlin school of minimal techno forges the decent bass woofer activity taken from dub genre and minimal's 'less is more' aesthetics. this live set is a continuously whirling spacious journey. if you are interested in more than rod model's own production, check his clashmusic podcast contribution.

dubspot podcast 024 - nihal ramchandani

i wrote about the new york lad nihal ramchandani back in early 2011 regarding his 12th hotflush podcast. it was quite an eclectic yourney into bass music, but this one is far superiour with experimental/electronica. nihal is related to hotflush and halcyon music. i think the crackling dubbed out drones, overdriven tones and chords of this set makes it a timeless night drive classic. highly recommended to everyone with a passion for minimal electronics. read a short interview by him while listening the mindcandy.

thomas fehlmann @ ultrahang festival 2010

the forward thinking ultrahang crew is one of my most fav organizations in hungary with numerous excellent festivals (i had chance to play on their very first in 2001 with coh and pan sonic) and superb line ups. a bunch of pioneers in experimental/electronica in hungary. too bad i was unsucceed to finish my podcast promoting their 2010 festival but anima sound system made an excellent piece of package. anyway, grab this set by the talented, former `the orb` member thomas fehlmann.

tilliander - 10 years of dub

sweden`s andreas tilliander is one of the best artists in glitch/idm/clickhop/digidub/whatever you name in the lofi clickery part of electronica. releasing on numerous iconic labels like raster-noton, mille plateaux, echocord, audio.nl, etc. while he has a handful of aliases for lifting his reputation (mokira, lowfour, komp, rechord, etc.) and putting stuff to his own repeatle label. in this set he have put a bunch of his productions from the dubbier side of the past ten years. yes, his first album `ljud` is ten years old and he had two grammy awards but four of his following albums were nominated in a row for grammy (more here)! loads of my faves inside, you must heard plenty of them in my sets during the years...

fact 212 - ame (primary structures)

you`ve surely heard of this awesome duo earlier... they had a bunch of nice releases, they are wicked as djs and they manage the immense innervisions label. they could be targeted somewhere around deep house and detroit techno but in this set they invite you to a journey to a field where sweet electronica and acoustic music melts into one organic field. this is similar to their collab mix album `the grandfather paradox` credited with dixon and henrik schwarz. this set is available for 3 weeks and will be released as a mix cd later this month on their very own innervisions. thats what i call a good started for the year! read more at fact mag!
