hell yeah, last years awards are out. with overhelming hessle audio presence, the list shows what i've been telling in the past three years or so. dubstep holds much more than most of the people think! good to see that this years kids sound (drumstep, filth, brostep and all the raveish whistling wobblers) haven't ruined the scene so far. honestly i've been pushing the sound since 2003-04 in hungary but i've never seen such breakthrough and diversion at the same time than in the past months. several newcomer groups started organizing gigs with the cheap sounds without any perspective. just like jump up dnb or wobblers back in the days. anyway, several of us, old farts breathed freely that there is hope for the future. anywaz, just check the awards right here and start exploring new artists and sound :)

week9 - hiphop, spyro, ben klock, dan curtin, etc...
i though i`d start collecting articles and suggest them in a pack rather than growing the endless posts. lets see what i found for my brain in the past days...
fact magazine has a list of the 20 best hiphop albums ever which is pretty interesting to see. i miss some quite a lot, for example n.w.a. famos one shot hero the d.o.c. "no one can do it better", epmd`s "strictly business", and kill me i loved ice-t`s "power" lp who earlier kicked ass with reckless` electro heaven or body rock (yeh i was electro guy from the begining). and i got to mention derek b`s "bullet from a gun" (which wouldn`t make it to the top20). yeh, i quit listening to hihop in the late 80s so i would pick from the old school era and totally skip some of theirs...
digging the dubstep daily dose here is an interview with rinse fm badboy spyro by blackdown and guido. on the minimal/tech tip you get the legendary dan curtin, the solid henrik schwartz and the super talent ben klock. i still remember when i first bought one of his eps. nice to see he`s still doing such a wicked job with his new album! for last here is a hungarian article about copyright razzia on prae site.

a few articles
i`ve been in a good relationship with the legendary transition studio`s very own LD. i got my first dubs from him in early 2007 and since then i`ve been listening how fast his skills are improving. it was high time to question him about everything. 2nd drop label boss markle made a feature with him for the forthcoming ATM magazine. read it here.
LD was also asked on martin clark`s wicked monthly session in august at pitchfork media, you`d better check that out too.
i wanted to advice another recent interview by markle with starkey who just released his album epheremal exhibits on planet mu. you can even grab a nas+lauren hill bootleg from starkey while reading the interview. grimey.
and for last there are a few hungarian articles about the dj exam phenomenon. a few blokes wanna have a law that every hungarian dj must take an exam to get license, of course for a nice amount of money. no one will be allowed to play without this license. its fucking ridiculous as only the hungarian djs are banned from the booth. the alliance of hungarian djs states that just a few unknown underground self proclaimed dj wannabe attacks the license who doesn`t even have license. of course. i don`t have either. i`ve been spinning for 15 years, writing for 10 in one of the best mags and i`m still an amateur in their eyes without their 2 weeks long yet very expensive course and expensive exam. who cares, i`m amateur then. whatever.
i think we are the only country where shit happens. the same type of wankers were able to legalise any music from any illegal source if you pay them. you pay, they give a sticker to your cdr and they don`t ask anything. above that if you pay a price of 40 vinyls, they state that you are free to use anything legally from cdr`s, pendrives, ableton, whatever you want for a YEAR. what the heck? legal? insane. so here are a few articles and opinions i read recently about this dj license in hungarian.

zinc changes course
the badboy true playaz veteran recently gave up his successful drum`n`bass career to move onto a more flattened out style. what a brave choice! giving up and switching to something new is a very brave move for sure specially because of the incoming "whats this house nonsense" notes. well, you can read more about his thoughts in this red bull music academy interview. zinc was a successor with his slower bingo beats label and thanks to this also has his landmark in the dubstep/breakstep/2step genre. so he tried himself at a different tempo around the milenium but recently he was totally made up his mind and left dnb behind. well, mr. zinc, all the best for the crack/fidget house scene!
